5 Benefits of Content Planning

I had a networking meeting with a contact I hadn’t seen since before the pandemic. She asked me if I was still writing content, and I answered, “Yes. But I want to do more.” It’s not that I want to do more writing, but rather, I want to help my clients be more successful with their content.

I’ve been an independent content writer and strategist for 16 years. I’ve seen trends come and go (Clubhouse, anyone?), but one thing has stayed fairly consistent: clients who take the time to plan their content — and then implement the plan — are more successful with their content.

What does that mean?

It means they know what they need to do and when to do it, and as a result, they get it done. Content is created, published, and distributed.

What strikes me is that many businesses DON’T have a plan, or if they took the time to create one, fail to implement it.

I get it; content creation is a slog. And it’s easy to push it further down a to-do list.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not important, because it is. And when you have a plan, it’s easier for it to get done.

I love to write and I love my family. I also love to jump rope to music from the 80s.
